1st Pheasant HuntFrom GPS technology to smartphones, technology has followed many hunters into the field, especially those that go with their hunting dogs. You can use technology to keep your dog safe, monitor his or her health and keep tabs on his or her whereabouts. With the latest Hunting technology you won’t have to worry about bulk. It’s designed to be lightweight and durable — two things you really want when running your dogs.

Download the Right Apps

There are numerous apps designed to help you improve the hunt time you spend with your dogs, many of which focus on keeping your dog healthy. Here are a few apps to download:

  • Pet Dossier by Yep Yup lets you carry your pet’s vet records wherever you go. With this app, you never have to worry about tracking down your dog’s medical information, such as shot records and medications, because you’ll have it all on your smartphone.
  • The Red Cross’ Pet First Aid app is self-explanatory: first aid for your furry friends. Hopefully, you never need to use the app, but if you do, you’ll be happy to have all the procedures in the palm of your hand. Your dog will thank you.
  • Connected Afield is a cool hunting app that you can use whether you have your dog with you or not. It currently has eight useful features: weather, solunar, mapping, journal, social media, classifieds, regulations and nearby events. It’s a free app, so it is worth checking out.
  • OnXmaps’ hunting app gives you detailed GPS data on your iPhone or iPad. The biggest difference between this app and other GPS apps is that it shows you exactly where you are allowed to hunt, including private lands. You can also see who owns the land in the area. With this app, you will never drift off from your hunt club’s land.
